My first band (Game-21) ended in 2012 and my second band (So Far Away) ended in 2013 so it has been a while since I had played a show. There was a local show at Rock City Studios in Camarillo that was a fundraiser for Camarillo High School and my friends encouraged me to play the show. A bit reluctantly, I agreed to and got on the show. I was sad because I was told that I would have to sell presale tickets (my least favorite part of being in a band) and that I would only have a short 10min set. I was originally told that I would have a 15min set but I was cut down due to complications.
One of the best things about this show was that I would be seeing a lot of my old friends that I haven’t seen in a long time. Being reunited with them was a blast. It was also nice to be able to watch their sets and see their improvements from the previous year.
The show went very well! I was a bit nervous because I was a bit out of practice. I used to sing every single day but this past year has been very busy so I was hardly ever singing. I was afraid of being pitchy and sounding as good as I used to.
I was also afraid of not being able to perform anymore. That I would freeze up or not have words to say.
It quite the opposite. When I got up there, it felt like I was at home. Being in front of people performing my original music was a great and natural feeling.
I enjoyed playing acoustically because I didn’t have to feel like I was yelling. When I play full band, often times, my vocals will not be turned up enough so people will not understand what I am singing. Playing acoustically saved me from that issue. Camchella was a blast.

Old and New Songs
At this show I got play some old songs that I haven’t played since Game-21 and it was great and exciting. I even dug up my old song “The Creepy Stalker Girl” just because so many people wanted to hear that dreaded song.
Most importantly, I was able to play a brand new acoustic song and I did not forget any of the lyrics live! I had written that song but was unsure on what to do about it. After playing that show, it really reminded me of my passion for writing music and performing it to others. I look forward to getting my solo act together and playing some more shows!
